Prior to now, most army parades within the U.S. have been staged to sign the top of a struggle and welcome dwelling of those that fought.
The final main army parade within the nation’s capitol was in 1991. It marked the top of the Gulf Conflict.
However the capital has not seen a army parade just like the one deliberate by President Trump for June 14th in a long time — a parade estimated to value $45 million.
NPR’s Ari Shapiro speaks with historian Joshua Zeitz. He is a contributing editor for Politico Journal and has written about the place Trump’s parade matches into the American custom.
