Citing a not often used regulation, President Trump bypassed California’s governor Gavin Newsom, and ordered two thousand nationwide guard troops to Los Angeles for sixty days.
It is the primary time in 60 years a president has used federal energy to deploy nationwide guard troops with out the settlement of the state’s governor.
NPR’s Scott Detrow speaks with Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass and hears how folks within the metropolis are reacting.
