The enduring purple canoe at Toronto’s Canoe Touchdown Park has been destroyed in a hearth.
Canoe Touchdown Park is positioned at Fort York Boulevard and Dan Leckie Means and could be noticed from the Gardiner Expressway.
Toronto Hearth officers inform CityNews that crews responded to the park simply after 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday for experiences of a construction hearth. They contained the flames and put out the hearth.
Photographs from the scene present the construction of the place the canoe as soon as sat burned solely to the bottom. No accidents had been reported.

Toronto police have but to substantiate if that is being investigated as a case of arson, and it’s unclear how the hearth began. The Ontario Hearth Marshal has been notified.
Created by Canadian artist and writer Douglas Coupland, the park showcases distinctive artwork installations, highlighted by the once-striking purple canoe sculpture.
In 2020, the addition of the Canoe Touchdown Group Recreation Centre expanded and launched an indoor playground, a rooftop park with a basketball court docket and working monitor, and neighborhood gardens.
