California hashish farmworker dies after federal immigration raid

Union officers on Friday introduced a farmworker had died after they stated he was injured throughout an immigration enforcement raid on a California hashish farm.

“We tragically can verify {that a} farmworker has died of accidents they sustained because of yesterday’s immigration enforcement motion,” the United Farm Employees’ announcement on X stated.

On Thursday, protesters clashed with authorities as federal immigration brokers carried out raids at Glass Home Farms in Camarillo and one other web site in Carpinteria. Video footage confirmed authorities utilizing tear gasoline to disperse the gang.

U.S. Customs and Border Safety (CBP) Commissioner Rodney Scott stated 10 unlawful immigrant minors on the Camarillo farm, eight of them unaccompanied, have been discovered and that Glass Home was underneath investigation for baby labor violations.

“That is Newsom’s California,” Scott added.

The Trump administration has been finishing up raids in Southern California, focusing on legal unlawful immigrants regardless of opposition from native and state officers.

The union has decried the operations, saying staff have been critically injured throughout what they described as “chaotic raids” and famous that “different staff, together with U.S. residents, stay completely unaccounted for.”

“These violent and merciless federal actions terrorize American communities, disrupt the American meals provide chain, threaten lives and separate households,” it stated in an earlier assertion. “There isn’t any metropolis, state or federal district the place it’s authorized to terrorize and detain individuals for being brown and dealing in agriculture. These raids should cease instantly.”
