Armed man tasered, arrested after Toronto BB gun retailer theft


A person is dealing with a number of expenses after a dramatic noon theft involving a knife and a duplicate firearm at a retail retailer in Toronto’s west finish, police say.

Toronto Police Service (TPS) officers responded to a holdup alarm simply after 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday within the space of Eglinton Avenue West and Dufferin Road.

In response to investigators, a masked man entered a retailer whereas carrying a big knife, allegedly took a duplicate Glock 17 BB handgun from the shelf, and walked out. Moments later, he returned to the shop and allegedly stole a amount of BBs and a number of other BB gun magazines earlier than fleeing on foot.

Officers responded shortly and situated the suspect close by. Police allege the person then approached officers whereas brazenly displaying the knife. One officer deployed a Conductive Power Weapon (CEW), hanging the suspect and permitting officers to securely take him into custody.

The knife and stolen gadgets have been recovered on the scene. Police have launched pictures of the knife and the duplicate handgun to the general public.

Jamiel Omare Murray, 35, of Toronto, has been charged with theft with an offensive weapon, disguise with intent and assault peace officer with weapon.

He was scheduled to seem for a bail listening to on Thursday.
