New Jim Jarmusch, Yorgos Lanthimos, Noah Baumbach, and Luca Guadagnino Movies to Premiere at Venice Movie Pageant


Venice Movie Pageant has unveiled a monster lineup for its 2025 version, together with world premieres of recent options from Jim Jarmusch, Yorgos Lanthimos, and Noah Baumbach. The pageant is ready to open with Paolo Sorrentino’s La Grazia, earlier than a slate that features Jarmusch’s comedy-drama Father Mom Sister Brother, starring Cate Blanchett, Adam Driver, and Tom Waits; Lanthimos’ sci-fi Bugonia, with Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons; Baumbach’s Jay Kelly (George Clooney, Adam Sandler, and Laura Dern); Luca Guadagnino’s #MeToo-themed thriller After the Hunt (Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield, and Ayo Edebiri); and Benny Safdie’s Nala Sinephro–scored UFC film The Smashing Machine (Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt). The pageant takes place from August 27 to September 6 as a part of Venice Biennale.

Different function movie premieres embody Gus Van Sant’s first in seven years, the Invoice Skarsgard–starring Useless Man’s Wire; Kathryn Bigelow’s first in eight, the geopolitical thriller A Home of Dynamite, with Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson; Olivier Assayas’ The Wizard of the Kremlin, concerning the rise of a fictional Vladimir V. Putin spin physician; Park Chan-wook’s Determination to Depart follow-up No Different Alternative; François Ozon’s Albert Camus adaptation Foreigner; and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.

A number of notable documentaries will premiere, too, together with Sofia Coppola’s Marc Jacobs doc Marc by Sofia, Werner Herzog’s Ghost Elephants, and Lucrecia Martel’s Nuestra Tierra, about colonialism in Latin America and the homicide of Indigenous chief Javier Chocobar.

A Charlie Kaufman quick, Learn how to Shoot a Ghost, starring Jessie Buckley, may even premiere out-of-competition, as will Damaged English, Jane Pollard and Iain Forsyth’s documentary on the late Marianne Faithfull.

Closing Venice Critics’ Week shall be 100 Nights of Heroa film from author and director Julia Jackman that counts Charli XCX amongst its stars.
