NJ rescue swimmer hailed as hero after saving 165 in Texas flash floods

A United States Coast Guard rescue swimmer from New Jersey is being referred to as a hero after rescuing near 200 folks following flash floods in Central Texas.

Petty Officer third Class Scott Ruskan, 26, was singled out by U.S. Division of Homeland Safety Secretary Kristi Noem for his efforts saving 165 victims as the one triage coordinator on the scene of the floods.

“United States Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer and Petty Officer Scott Ruskin (Ruskan), immediately saved an astonishing 165 victims within the devastating flooding in central Texas. Ruskan stated in an interview on “Fox and Pals” that they have been within the air after they noticed an enormous crowd of about 200 youngsters at a campsite. That’s how they determined to give attention to Camp Mystic.

Kerr County Sheriff’s Workplace says that as of 1:30pm Sunday that they had recovered 68 deceased in Kerr County.

“Amongst those that are deceased, we’ve 40 adults and 28 kids. Eighteen adults are pending identification, and 10 kids additionally pending identification. At current, there are 10 Camp Mystic campers unaccounted for, together with one counselor,” they posted to Fb.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing, they stated, and there’s a full response from native, state, and nationwide first responders.

“We proceed to have a whole bunch of officers, deputies, and help employees working each facet of this emergency, together with air, water, K9, and different belongings conducting search and rescue,” the sheriff’s workplace stated.
