The Vatican says about 250,000 folks flocked to Pope Francis’ funeral mass in Rome on Saturday.
Tens of hundreds of mourners waited hours in line over three days to bid farewell to Francis, who died Monday after struggling a stroke on the age of 88. A better-than-expected turnout prompted the Vatican to lengthen the basilica’s opening hours in a single day.
On Saturday, mourners had been lined up alongside Through della Conciliazione, which leads as much as the Vatican, and adopted the Mass on huge screens in public squares throughout town, together with exterior the Santa Maria Main Basilica.
