Secretly Group has acquired a 50% stake in Merge Informationthe influential indie label that launched traditional albums by the likes of Impartial Milk Lodge, Spoon, the Magnetic Fields, and Arcade Hearth. The partnership extends Merge’s longtime distribution cope with Secretly, bringing the label underneath an umbrella that features its 4 core labels, Lifeless Oceans, JagjaguharuwarSaddest Manufacturing unit, and Secretly Canadian.
Talks across the partnership started when Merge co-founder Laura Ballance determined to step down from her position as co-president and go away the music enterprise, based on a press launch. Her fellow co-founder—and Superchunk bandmate—Mac McCaughan stays label president and head of A&R, and different senior Merge employees will keep in place, a press launch notes.
