Gunn recorded Music for Writers in Brooklyn, New York; Berlin, Germany; and Latvia. The practically 47-minute album was blended by Ernie Indridat and mastered by Carl Saff.
Music for Writers is Steve Gunn’s first solo album since 2021’s Different You. Since then, he’s joined with Bing & Ruth’s David Moore for Let the Moon Be a Planet and Stay in London; collaborated with John Truscinski on Flam; teamed up with Shahzad Ismaily, Zoh Amba, and Jim White for Beings’ There Is a Backyard; and extra.
