A 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck close to Sand Level, Alaska, on Wednesday, prompting a tsunami warning from the Nationwide Climate Service.
Sand Level is positioned on northwestern Popof Island, off the Alaska Peninsula. It is roughly 600 miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska.

The earthquake struck 54 miles south of Sand Level, in line with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
The tsunami warning is in impact from South Alaska and the Alaska Peninsula to Kennedy Entrance and Unimak Move, Alaska, on the Pacific Coast.

Along with Sand Level, Alaskan cities Chilly Bay and Kodiak are included within the warning space.
Residents in these zones are urged to evacuate inland or to greater floor or transfer to an higher flooring of a multi-story constructing, in line with the Nationwide Climate Service.
