President Donald Trump on Tuesday threatened to withhold federal funding to California as a result of a transgender athlete “gained all the things” at a current competitors.
The president did not share their title or which sport they competed in.
“This week a transitioned Male athlete, at a significant occasion, gained ‘all the things,’ and is now certified to compete within the ‘State Finals’ subsequent weekend. As a Male, he was a lower than common competitor. As a Feminine, this transitioned particular person is virtually unbeatable. THIS IS NOT FAIR, AND TOTALLY DEMEANING TO WOMEN AND GIRLS,” Trump wrote on his social media platform.
Trump stated “large-scale” federal funding will likely be held again, “possibly completely,” if the state permits the athlete to proceed competing in ladies’s sports activities.

“I’m ordering native authorities, if vital, to not enable the transitioned particular person to compete within the State Finals. It is a completely ridiculous scenario,” Trump wrote.
